EN So you're a graphic designer and yet you can't name at least five great women in visual communication? As a group of graphic design students, we realised that we were barely able to name remarkable women in our own field, and that our History of Art & Design classes were almost only focused on men's work. Are there so few women in visual communication History? Aren't they good enough to be known? Or is it just a matter of visibility? (Spoiler: it is) To answer those questions, we launched a workshop to see if we could list 40 women who did remarkable things in the field of visual communication. And in a single morning, we found more than 100, from 1300 to 2018. They are/were art director, typographers, video maker, advertisers, designers, inventors, developers, writers, entrepreneurs and all made amazing things.
